About Us

Africa Women in Energy Development Initiative

Our Story

It is common knowledge that traditionally, the energy sector is a male-dominated field and it can be intimidating for women who are new to the sector or even veterans to break the glass ceiling to reach top leadership positions within the sector due to various reasons.

The first organization focused on developing women across the energy value chain by offering networking opportunities, professional development, mentorship, career sponsorship (acceleration) capacity building, leadership training for women at all stages of their energy careers and for female students at the secondary and tertiary levels.

Our Purpose

AWEDI Network provides support for African women across the energy value chain, helping them to connect and sharpen their skills in order to accelerate their careers.

Our Mission

Our mission is to encourage and unite women in energy by offering a guiding platform for their progress in the industry through career accelerators, mentors, professional development, trainings, and exposure.
